Captains Kelvin & Niuris Garcia

Corps Officers | Indian River County

Captain Kelvin is from Ecuador, and Captain Niuris is from Cuba. They arrived in the United States the same year, 2005, and later both moved to Naples, FL, where they met in The Salvation Army Church and married in 2010. They accepted God's calling to become officers of The Salvation Army and entered training college in 20015 with one child. After graduation, they were commissioned to Miami Hialeah Corps, where the family grew from three to five. They bring with them three children and make it a point to involve their children in their ministry and be good citizens of their community. They both believe that together they can make change for good in their community through the ministry and work of The Salvation Army.

"It has been exciting to meet the people of Vero Beach and discover the many opportunities for ministry here," said Captain Niuris Garcia. “We look forward to meeting the needs of this community and ‘Doing The Most Good’ alongside the staff, volunteers and supporters of The Salvation Army.

The couple is responsible for all church programs and social services at The Salvation Army including the, Family Store, Church, Community Center, Social Service, and providing Emergency Disaster Service and Spiritual Care to the community when needed.

"Many people don’t realize that The Salvation Army is a church," said Captain Kelvin Garcia. “We invite everyone to join us for worship each Sunday at 11:00 a.m., at The Salvation Army, located at 2655 5th SW, here in Vero Beach. We look forward to meeting you soon!”
